Bay Area Chapter Merger

Can you hear the drum roll?

Voting ballots were sent to all members of the 3 Bay Area Chapters…

The vote was overwhelming in favor of a merge!

Thank you all for participating.

A steering committee has been formed from representatives of each of the 3 existing chapters. They will begin meeting as soon as next week to act on the will of the members to merge us into one new San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. (That is not necessarily the new name, but it is one that has been suggested.) Their task will be to transfer funds, close down old websites, communicate with the California Secretary of State, IRS, ARMA HQ, etc. We will be looking for volunteers for the new Board. If you are interested, please let your President know. All positions are open. We will need a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, there will be opportunities to serve as a Director of Membership, Hospitality, Outreach, Communications, etc. Ideally we will have enough that we can double up and share the responsibilities of the Directors. Again, we will be looking for representation from each of the existing chapters. 2020 has brought enough change to last a life time. This new chapter (literally) for ARMA members here in the Bay Area may prove to be one of the best changes you have had to deal with. Those of us currently serving on the Mt. Diablo Board are committed to making it so.

The new elected Board will have the responsibility to select a new name, craft a new set of By-laws, schedule the next season of meetings and determine how and where those meetings will be held. Even with virtual reality being the new reality, we do not want to lose contact with one another so we will be looking for ways to network, socialize and stay connected even while meeting remotely.

Your current membership will automatically be rolled over to the new chapter. There is nothing that you will need to do to make that happen. Your current Board will remain in place until the merge has been finalized. Feel free to reach out to any of us with any questions or concerns.

Stay tuned for regular updates on the progress.
